“Presto” is a project created in my Spring Senior Design Project class. This was made by a team of students and myself. "Presto" is an app targeting local Austin musicians that allows them to connect with each other for collaborative and promotional purposes. Users can filter through artists near them according to specific criteria and promote their own upcoming events and content to a local audience.

My Responsibilities and Contributions

Preso was a very fun project and the team members I worked with were amazing. We all contributed to the success of this project but I will be talking about my contributions to this project and the role that I assumed.

My highest job was to be the project manager for the semester. I had a lot of experience leading people and making sure tasks were complete in my previous work of having leadership positions in multiple organizations. I took this knowledge and applied it to my team. Reminding members of deadlines, what work we set out to do each week, spearheading communication, and preparing for presentations was the name of the game. I created a team Trello board as seen below to assist in having information in a singular place as well as using discord for more immediate communication.

This is a screenshot from earlier in the semester between our Alpha and Beta builds. We used Trello as a home base for our ideas and workflow. It was the easiest way for us to inform each other of our progress and to see the overall progress of the project. This is a very useful tool that many individuals and companies use for their management. I have only used Trello before for a period of two weeks before this project. Using it constantly throughout the project and updating it for my teammates helped develop my ability to be a manager for a working group of young professionals.

The next hat that I wore was being an assistant to any who needed it. I mostly helped out with the coding aspect of the project. Our Lead Coder would need some help figuring out an issue, needed advice for the layout, or wanted someone to talk to about the code side of things I was there. While they took on a large majority of the load, I hope that I contributed enough to have made things a bit easier. This was challenging for me because my experience in Phyton was very limited. I have used a similar language in the past but having to do 'proper' computer science was a challenge that I had to rise to. Read textbooks and watched many lessons online to increase my knowledge so that I could help out at a moment's notice.

Finally, I got to show off my web designing skills. I have designed a hand full of websites before, including the website you are on now. I enjoyed the workflow of Wix in the past so when asked to make a final website to properly show off our entire project, I knew exactly what to do. I tried to stick to the planned aesthetic of our app on the website. I took our final presentation and turned it into a sleek website that would look like a tech start-up.  Below is an image of the home screen of the site.

The site challenged my ability to match an existing project so that I could create a site that seemed as though it was originally made for a company. My main goal was to have it be simple and understandable to the average user. The challenge forced me to grow as a web designer and allowed me to add one more website to my design portfolio. The website can be accessed here.

All pictures, research, and videos of the project can be viewed through the website. Please click the link above to explore more about our fantastic project, "Presto", and how its final iteration turned out. On there, you can find the final demo video as well as the links to individuals' work.
